Job Overview:
This paralegal position will support the office of general counsel with various administrative and legal support tasks. Duties include but are not limited to conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing documents, sending communications on behalf of attorneys, preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings, and organizing and maintaining files.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide research and legal support to the department and local education agencies to ensure compliance with state and federal education law.
2. Support the department with legal inquiries and high-level projects involving cross-divisional collaboration.
3. Process requests for duplicate diplomas and requests for education verification.
4. Support the department with open records requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Associates degree in paralegal or legal assistant studies or a paralegal certificate, preferred.
Required Experience:
Experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal preferred.
